According to Wohlin et al. [Wohlin:2012], the evaluation instructions can be composed of use manual, instruments or task to be performed. These instruments must be distributed and used when executing an empirical method. They are used, for example, to clarify the participants of the evaluation on what will be evaluated and when the evaluation will take place.
